A resident of Sri Vijaya Puram has lodged a complaint with the Pahargaon Police Station, alleging that a man from New Delhi defrauded him of ₹33 lakh under the pretext of securing a postgraduate medical seat for his daughter at Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi.

According to the written complaint submitted to the police, the victim stated that they had developed a friendly relationship with the accused, who works at the Nursing Office of Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi. Over time, the accused gained his trust and assured them that he could arrange a medical seat for the victim’s daughter at Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi.

Believing his assurances, the victim transferred ₹33 lakh to the accused through multiple bank transactions. However, despite repeated follow-ups, no progress was made toward securing the promised seat.

The complainant alleged that when he started demanding the return of his money, the accused initially made excuses and later stopped responding altogether, even disconnecting his calls.

Acknowledging his mistake in trusting the accused, the complainant emphasised that the individual had fraudulent intentions from the outset and requested the police to take immediate legal action under the relevant sections.

The police have registered an FIR under Sections 34, 419 and 420 of IPC.
