As part of the ongoing week-long Anti-Drug Programme organised by the Science Wing of the Directorate of Education, ‘Movie Day’ was observed on the fifth day of the campaign, celebrated from June 23 to 28, 2025. The day focused on empowering students to creatively express their stand against drug abuse.

Students across senior and junior categories actively participated in Reels and Memes Making Competitions on the theme Anti-Drugs, showcasing powerful messages through humour, visuals, and storytelling. A Rapping Competition added vibrancy to the event, where young voices articulated their concerns and hopes through hard-hitting lyrics and rhythm, underscoring the urgency to combat substance abuse.

The highlight of the day was an interactive session on the art of filmmaking, conducted by Ms. Samhita Acharya, Independent Filmmaker and Convenor of INTACH, Andaman and Nicobar Chapter. Her session offered students a deep insight into how film can be a potent medium for social messaging. Encouraging them to move beyond competitions, she inspired participants to use their creativity as a means to raise awareness and drive change in society.

‘Movie Day’ not only celebrated student talent but also reinforced the importance of using digital and artistic platforms to promote a drug-free future.
