In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the Surya Namaskar Challenge was successfully organised on July 11, 2025, at the Model School Hall, drawing enthusiastic participation from over 120 students representing both government and private schools.
The event saw the presence of Dr. Shweta, a noted yoga expert, as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering of students, teachers, and parents, Dr. Shweta underscored the importance of Surya Namaskar in maintaining physical and mental well-being. She encouraged everyone to incorporate the ancient yogic practice into their daily routines to lead healthier lives.
The competition was held in two sections—boys and girls—and witnessed commendable performances from the young participants. In the boys’ section, B. Raju from Government Senior Secondary School (GSS) Junglighat secured the first position, followed by Kunal Uraon, also from GSS Junglighat, in second place. The third position went to Seshanda Das from GSS Manglutan.
In the girls’ section, Sriyanka Roy from Senior Secondary School Sagritara claimed the top spot, while L. Kumari from GSS Junglighat stood second. S. Diviya Bharati from GSSS Rangachang secured the third position.
The event was widely appreciated for promoting yoga among school students and fostering a spirit of healthy competition.
