Tent Library Inaugurated at Govt. Demonstration Multi Purpose School (Primary)

The Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Education), Ms. Chanchal Yadav, IAS, on Wednesday inaugurated a Tent Library at Govt. Demonstration Multi Purpose School (Primary), Middle Point, Sri Vijaya Puram as part of an initiative to promote reading habits among young learners.

The Tent Library has been established by the State Library under the Directorate of Education with the objective of creating a child-friendly reading and learning environment at the grassroots level. The programme was attended by the Director of Education, Mr. Vikram Singh, who was present as the guest of honour.

During the inauguration, Ms. Yadav interacted with students, reviewed the facilities of the Tent Library, and appreciated the initiative for encouraging children to develop an interest in reading in a relaxed and informal setting. She emphasised the importance of nurturing reading habits at an early age to strengthen foundational learning.

Mr. Vikram Singh lauded the efforts of the State Library and highlighted that innovative initiatives such as Tent Libraries play a vital role in strengthening the reading culture among primary school students.

The Tent Library provides access to storybooks and other age-appropriate reading materials in an open and welcoming environment designed to make reading an enjoyable experience for children. The initiative reflects the Directorate of Education’s commitment to promoting literacy and fostering lifelong learning among students.
