Training Session Held for Mobile Polling Teams in Port Blair

In preparation for the forthcoming Parliamentary Election 2024, a comprehensive training and interaction session took place at the Tagore Govt. College of Education Auditorium. The session was organized by the Office of the Returning Officer, ANIPC, aimed at Mobile Polling Teams designated for the implementation of Special Procedures for Voting by Absentee Voters in senior citizens, physically disabled individuals, and those affected or suspected of COVID-19 categories.

Mr. Azharuddin Zahiruddin Quazi, IAS, the State Nodal Officer (Postal Ballot), led the session, providing an extensive elucidation on the various special procedures outlined by the Election Commission of India (ECI). His presentation included detailed insights into the facilitation of voting by Absentee Voters and the specific modalities to be adhered to during the implementation of these Special Procedures by the Mobile Polling Teams.

Throughout the session, the teams had the opportunity to raise queries and concerns regarding the special voting procedures, all of which were diligently addressed by the State Nodal Officer, Postal Ballot.

Among the notable personalities present were Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS, the Returning Officer, ANIPC/DC(SA), and Mr. Vinayak Chamadia, IAS, the Deputy CEO/SDM (SA). Both officials actively engaged with the participants, offering insights and guidance during the training session.

The training-cum-interaction session served as a crucial preparatory step, ensuring that Mobile Polling Teams are well-equipped and informed to carry out their duties effectively during the upcoming Parliamentary Election, especially in facilitating voting for absentee voters falling within the specified categories.
