The Chairman of the ANTCC Campaign Committee, Mr. TSG Bhasker, has raised urgent concerns about the severe challenges faced by farmers in Diglipur following his three-day visit to the flood-stricken region.
In a letter addressed to the Secretary of Agriculture on Monday, Mr. Bhasker detailed the extensive damage observed in several villages. He reported that the floods have devastated crops and washed away essential fertilisers, leaving many households of poor farmers in dire straits.
“Most of the people living in Diglipur depend on agriculture,” Mr. Bhasker stated. “These individuals are very poor and need immediate support to resume farming.”
Mr. Bhasker also criticized the financial assistance provided by the Administration, describing it as insufficient to cover the losses suffered by the farmers.
To alleviate the situation, he urged the Secretary of Agriculture to conduct a thorough assessment of the damage and to provide free seeds and fertilisers to the affected farmers, enabling them to rebuild their lives and livelihoods.
Mr. Bhasker’s appeal highlights the pressing need for increased support and resources to help the farming community in Diglipur recover from the recent natural disaster.
