The President of the Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee, Mr. Rangalal Halder, has issued an urgent appeal to the Directorate of Health Services, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, to address the critical water supply issues affecting the toilet blocks at G B Pant Hospital. These facilities, constructed in 2022 under the MPLADS fund, are a vital part of the hospital complex.
During a recent visit to the hospital, Mr. Halder encountered numerous concerns from visitors regarding the significant decline in the water supply to these toilet blocks over the past few months. This deficiency has led to unsanitary conditions, rendering the toilets virtually unusable and posing a serious health risk to visitors.
“The lack of sufficient water supply has created a highly unhygienic environment which not only impacts the health and well-being of those who need to use these facilities but also increases the risk of infections and other health complications,” Mr. Halder stated.
In light of the severity of this issue, Mr. Halder has urgently requested the Directorate of Health Services to take immediate steps to restore and maintain an adequate water supply to the toilet blocks.
Additionally, he has called on the Medical Superintendent to conduct a thorough inspection of the facilities to assess their current state and identify any further areas requiring attention within the hospital premises.
The timely resolution of this issue is crucial to ensure the health and safety of hospital visitors and to uphold the standards of public health facilities in the region.
