Anti-Narcotics Police Station and K-9 Heroes Busts Drug Trafficker at VSI Airport with 1.005 Kg Ganja

In a concerted effort to combat drug-related activities, the Anti-Narcotics Police Station, aided by the Dog Squad, CID, carried out a targeted anti-narcotics operation on April 27, 2024. Acting on specific intelligence, a team from the Anti-Narcotics Police Station, led by Inspector Girish Kumar, SHO Anti-Narcotics Police Station, and including SI Mohd. Rahil Islam, ASI Sanjay Yadav, HC/1176 Sharfudeen, PC/1173 Ratan Das, PC/2772 Nandita Mistry, PC/2871 Vishal Kumar, and PC/2836 M. Raja Rao, along with the Dog Squad team comprising HC/1212 M Shyam and PC/167 Ashim Ray, conducted the operation under the supervision of Mr. Ajay Kumar Rai, DANIPS, Dy.SP, Narcotics.

During the operation, one individual identified as Biswajit Mondal, aged 30, son of Mr. Mahadeb Mondal, and a private labourer residing at 4 No. Paschim Para, Gram Bose, Basanti, South 24 Parganas-743312, was intercepted upon his arrival at Port Blair from Kolkata via Vistara flight. Upon a thorough inspection, a total of 1.005 kilograms of Ganja was discovered clandestinely concealed in his bag. Mondal was promptly arrested at the scene, with all necessary formalities duly observed.

A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act-1985 at the Anti-Narcotics Police Station, and investigations are currently underway. The entire operation was conducted under the overall supervision of Mr. Rajeev Ranjan, IPS, SP (CID), A&N Islands.
