Eight Flat Top Barges (Pontoons) have been irresponsibly dumped near the Fish Landing Centre at Campbell Bay. Most of these pontoons have been dumped at the beach by ALHW and its contractors. These pontoons have been rotting for years and are polluting the beach at Campbell Bay.

These pontoons are also a hazard for the fishermen as some of these pontoons are inside the water and very close to the Fish Landing Centre.

The beautiful beach has been turned into a graveyard for these large flat-top pontoon barges with no effort over the years to remove them.

Most of the pontoons were brought to Campbell Bay by ALHW and its contractors for executing Marine Works at Campbell Bay and nearby areas and after the work was finished these pontoons were dumped on the shore irresponsibly.

Some of these pontoons were reportedly damaged and were deliberately beached to prevent them from sinking.

All the pontoons beached near the Fish Landing Centre at Campbell Bay are no longer usable and are beyond repair. All the beached pontoons needs to be extracted and scrapped but the departments and their contractors have shown no interest over the years to clear the beach from the dangerous debris of sharp rotten iron.

Department of Environment and Forests should take note of the polluting debris on the beach near Fish Landing Centre at Campbell Bay and impose heavy fines on the responsible department and their contractors.
