The Member of Parliament representing the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, has raised a compelling demand for the construction of a modern bus terminus in the Diglipur Bazaar area.

In a formal communication addressed to the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Sharma emphasized the critical need for improved transportation infrastructure to adequately serve the burgeoning population of Diglipur.

Citing the provision of modern bus terminuses in neighbouring regions such as Rangat and Bambooflat, Sharma argued for equitable amenities for Diglipur, stressing the necessity for a similar facility in the Diglipur Bazaar area to meet the transportation requirements of its residents.

The absence of a dedicated bus stand in Diglipur has resulted in significant inconveniences for locals, particularly during adverse weather conditions. Sharma highlighted the challenges faced by commuters, including students, who currently endure makeshift shelters or seek refuge in front of shops while waiting for transportation.

Furthermore, Sharma underscored the imperative of infrastructure development in anticipation of increased tourism activity. With the completion of two major bridges on NH4, a surge in tourism is expected in the region. Thus, Sharma emphasized the urgency of establishing a modern bus terminus in Diglipur to accommodate the anticipated influx of tourists and ensure their convenience and comfort.
