Notorious Thief Apprehended After Theft at Megapode Resort

On February 29, 2024, authorities received a written complaint from Mr. K. Dilly Raj, Deputy Manager of Megapode Resort, detailing a burglary incident that had occurred earlier. According to Raj’s account, during a routine inspection of the resort area around 08:00 hrs, it was discovered that the campus had been breached and the AC unit copper pipes from Room No. 128 and Room No. 129 were stolen. This incident follows previous thefts of AC unit copper pipes from Room No. 131 and Room No. 132. The estimated value of the stolen copper pipes amounted to approximately ₹40,000. Raj emphasized the urgency of the situation, highlighting Megapode Resort’s status as the official caterers and VIP accommodation resort for state guests.

In response to the complaint, FIR No. 07/24 dated February 29, 2024, was filed at PS Chatham against an unknown perpetrator under sections 457/380 IPC.

Subsequent investigation efforts led to the identification of a suspect, Roshen Ram (31) son of Late Lukeswar Ram, residing near DCF Silviculture Forest in Haddo. Acting on reliable information, authorities brought Ram to PS Chatham for questioning. Following interrogation, Ram was arrested at the Police Station, and the stolen property was successfully recovered.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Vikas Swamy, IPS, SDPO South Andaman, and overseen by the Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
