The District Legal Services Authority of Andaman & Nicobar Islands has announced National Lok Adalat across key judicial complexes in the region. Scheduled to take place on March 9th, 2024, this initiative aims to facilitate the resolution of various legal disputes in a swift and amicable manner.
The National Lok Adalat will be held at the District Court Complex in Port Blair, the Sub-Divisional Court Complex in Mayabunder, and the Circuit Court in Diglipur. Notably, the Lok Adalat will address a wide spectrum of cases, including those pending in different courts and disputes at the pre-litigation stage.
Pre-litigation disputes, which encompass a range of issues such as NI Act cases under section 138, money recovery cases, labour disputes, electricity and water bill disputes (excluding non-compoundable cases), maintenance cases, civil disputes, and disputes under the Consumer Protection Act, will also be entertained for resolution through consensual settlements between the involved parties.
In a statement issued by the District Legal Services Authority, it was emphasized that individuals from the general public experiencing disputes, either at the pre-litigation or post-litigation stage, are encouraged to submit their grievances in writing to the Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Port Blair, before the deadline of February 29th, 2024. This will enable the processing of their disputes and ensure readiness for the National Lok Adalat on March 9th, 2024.
The Lok Adalat serves as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism, promoting conciliation and compromise to swiftly address legal issues and alleviate the burden on conventional court systems. With its inclusive approach and emphasis on consensus-based resolutions, the National Lok Adalat aims to provide accessible and efficient justice to the residents of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
For individuals seeking resolution for their disputes, participation in the National Lok Adalat presents an opportunity to expedite the legal process and achieve mutually agreeable solutions under the guidance of the judicial system.
The District Legal Services Authority urges all concerned parties to avail themselves of this opportunity for swift and amicable resolution of their disputes, contributing to the promotion of justice and harmony within the community.
